The City of Wakefield has a total population of in excess of 300,000 people. The frontline services for this area are provided by Wakefield Council and its approved subcontractors. Their staff are out in all weather conditions and in a variety of working environments.

The Problem

Wakefield felt they had a few problems with their safety footwear solution. These included:

  • Too much choice
  • Inflated cost without enhanced specification
  • Lack of performance

What did we offer?

After changing equipment supplier, Wakefield Council invited us to review their existing range and provide alternatives. Upon reviewing the range we:

  • Reduced the offering to 3 styles
  • Enabled a yearly spend reduction
  • Provided enhanced specification products

We supplied wearer trials to a number of operatives across a variety of business units.

Following a successful extended trial period these two products were specified and a range of bespoke toolbox talks were developed for Rock Fall, Wakefield Council, and their chosen Distributor to deliver to their operatives. The focus for these talks was to explain how correct care and maintenance can maximise the lifespan of the boot and to highlight key features.

As the relationship grew between the 3 parties is was decided that a 3rd boot should be introduced to offer to wearers that had wide fitting requirements or minor foot issues.

The Range

Our future

As the Rock Fall range is continually being developed other products are discussed when the time is appropriate. Ongoing wearer feedback is reviewed to ensure the continual performance and value for money is achieved.
