Boot Sole Test in Water and Dirt (Wet and Dry)

The ASTM test methods for Electrical Hazard protection test the boot in clean, laboratory conditions.

Thinking about the environments the boots are used, Rock Fall and several end-users in the Power Transmission sector wanted to test the footwear safely in lab simulated ‘real world’ conditions.

Boot in 35MM of Water

Boot in 15MM of Dry Soil

Each above test was carried out to demonstrate di-electric testing in various conditions. During each test I can confirm no flashover or breaking down of RF800 boot.

Results

Test Voltage: 10 Kv For 3 minutes Standing in 35mm of water = Leakage 160 microamps.

Test Voltage: 10 Kv For 3 minutes Standing 15mm deep of dry soil = Leakage 147 microamps.

Test Voltage: 20 Kv For 3 minutes Standing on top of dry soil = Leakage 231 microamps.

Test Voltage: 20 Kv For 3 minutes standing on top of wet soil= Leakage 229 microamps.

Each above test was carried out to demonstrate di-electric testing in various conditions. During each test I can confirm no flashover or breaking down of RF800 boot.
